Skateboarding
It is illegal to operate skateboards,
roller skates or similar devices upon the streets or sidewalks of the City of
Glen Cove. The following is excerpted from the City of Glen Cove Ordinances:
Chapter 231, SKATEBOARDS

§ 231-1. Use of
skateboards, roller skates and similar devices. [Amended 4-22-1986]
Subject to the approval of the City Council, the Chief of Police is hereby
authorized and empowered to designate, from time to time, streets or portions of
streets or any public property, upon which the use of skateboards, roller skates
and similar devices shall be permitted, which said streets, portions of streets
or public property shall be designated by a proper sign or signs;
whereupon it shall be unlawful for any person to use or operate skateboards,
roller skates or similar devices upon or along said streets or public property
except where so designated.
§ 231-2. Penalties for
offenses.
Any violation of any provision of this chapter shall be a violation pursuant to
the Penal Law punishable by a fine not exceeding $250 or imprisonment for not
more than 15 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
